Why Operations Professionals Need Great Headshots
April 14, 2025Why Operations Professionals Need Great Headshots — and a Shoutout to BLANKSPACES Venice
I recently had the pleasure of creating a new professional portrait for Lindsay LeMaire, Director of Operations at BLANKSPACES coworking— which also happens to be the coworking space I work out of here in Venice.
Lindsay brings nearly a decade of experience in commercial office and multi-family real estate, and she’s channeling that expertise into growing and nurturing the BLANKSPACES community. From sales and strategy to supporting the on-site team and daily operations, she’s a powerhouse who blends big-picture thinking with hands-on execution.
As a photographer, it’s always a privilege when I get to photograph professionals who are actively shaping the communities and workspaces we share. People like Lindsay are often working behind the scenes, making sure everything runs smoothly — but they’re also some of the most essential leaders in the room.
Shooting at BLANKSPACES Venice was a real treat. The space has such a unique character — it’s part of an old tech campus, with multiple buildings, a walkway, and greenery. Lindsay and I wandered around a bit to find the right spots, and we ended up using glass reflections, and open shade to give her portraits a clean but dynamic look.
Personally, I loved the chance to experiment with my strobes a little more than usual. The layout gave me room to play with light and shape in a way that felt both creative and professional. It’s always fun when a headshot session also turns into a little creative lab.
Thanks for the opportunity, Lindsay!
The Case for Operations Professionals Having a Polished Headshot
When most people think of professional headshots, they tend to think of executives, salespeople, or customer-facing team members. But there’s a huge opportunity for professionals in operations, administration, and support roles to benefit from having strong, up-to-date portraits too.
Whether you’re managing a team, overseeing daily logistics, coordinating hiring or onboarding, or simply acting as the go-to person who keeps everything on track — your work matters. And your image should reflect that.
A professional headshot can:
- Show that you are a serious professional, especially in roles that involve team-building, vendor relations, or internal communications.
- Support your personal brand as a leader, both internally within your company and externally through platforms like LinkedIn or speaking opportunities.
- Be used for company websites, press kits, bios, presentations, or social content, helping give a face to the name behind the operations.
- Create consistency across team photos — especially important if you’re helping manage staff directories or employee branding efforts.
Let’s face it: people want to know who they’re working with. A professional headshot can speak volumes before you even walk into the room.
Where I Work — And Where I Shoot
This session with Lindsay was especially meaningful to me because it took place right here at BLANKSPACES Venice, the coworking space I call home. It’s always a special kind of full-circle moment when I get to photograph someone in the same space where I do my creative work.
I also have offices in Santa Monica and Culver City, and also travel to client offices across the Los Angeles metro area. Whether you’re looking for a headshot session for yourself or planning to update your whole team’s portraits, I’m happy to come to your workplace or host you in one of mine.
