Chasing the Golden Hour: Capturing Breathtaking Sunsets in Santa Monica

In addition to being a headshot, event and commercial photographer I also enjoy taking photos of sunsets in Santa Monica. There’s something magical about sunsets – the vibrant hues painting the sky, the gentle caress of the ocean breeze, and the anticipation of capturing that perfect moment. As a Santa Monica photographer, I’m incredibly fortunate to witness some of the most awe-inspiring sunsets, and I’m thrilled to share with you my favorite spots for capturing these breathtaking scenes.

 1. Santa Monica Pier: The Santa Monica Pier is an iconic landmark and an absolute must for a photographer. As the sun begins its descent, you’ll witness the sky transforming into a canvas of pastel colors. The vibrant ferris wheel and bustling atmosphere add an extra layer of charm to the sunset shots I take.

 2. Palisades Park: I enjoy adding some artistic flair to my sunset photos and Palisades Park is a little gem. Located atop the coastal bluffs, this park offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the cityscape. The meandering pathways and palm trees provide excellent foreground elements for composition, creating a sense of depth and dimension.

 3. Santa Monica Beach: Of course, a list of the best sunset spots in Santa Monica wouldn’t be complete without the city’s beautiful stretch of coastline. Santa Monica beaches offers a perfect blend of sun, sand, and sea – an excellent place to capture the fading light as it glistens on the water’s surface.

Sunsets in general are something very special, but sunsets in Santa Monica are truly amazing! I’m so grateful to be able to share some of my favorite spot to take sunset photos.
